Rogers in partnership with RIM has finally launched a new BlackBerry device called Curve 8520. The handset is available in any Rogers location for $99.99 with a 3-year contract of at least $ 45 per month.

The specifications are pretty unimpressive as this smartphone packs a 3.5mm headset jack, a 2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi with UMA and a 320×240 display plus a full QWERTY keyboard. 256MB of RAM memory are also on board and the tasks are performed by a 512 MHz processor.

The device comes only in the classical black colour but there are hopes for a new violet shade.

O2 will finally bring Palm Pre in the UK and Ireland on the 16thof October after 4 months of waiting time. There will be many outlets selling this product as it will be available on Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse, plus you’ll have the possibility to purchase it online via O2′s site.

China Unicom will finally start shipping iPhones next month. There hasn’t been any official announcement yet but this info emerged from multiple sales channels and regional offices.

It seems that the launch date is October 15th, this fact being revealed by China Business Time. We are talking about two types of handsets: the 8GB version and the 16GB one. The Chinese public will be able to purchase the 8GB iPhone for 1999 yuan ($293) while the 16GB model’s price will be 2999 yuan ($439). Both prices are available with a 2-year agreement of at least 186 yuan ($27) per month.

If all of these are true and we have no reason to think otherwise, China Unicom will have no problem with selling millions of iPhones. We are talking here about a country with about 690 million mobile users that is more than Western Europe and USA combined. The Chinese black market currently offers about 1.5 millions iPhones that can be purchased for about $680, so it can’t face China Unicom’s offer.

Rogers just upgraded the Canadian network with 21 Mbps HSPA+, the announcement being made today. The lucky Canadian cities that will benefit of this upgrade are no other than the 5 largest cities in the country, also the most profitable. T-Mobile is now selling G1 online, the carrier’s original Android handset for $130 on 2-year agreement. We are talking about a $20 discount that is still insufficient to beat the offers of other stores like Amazon and Walmart that are trading this device for approximately $100.

A possible move of these stores could be lowering the phone’s price by $20 as well but only time will tell. For the ones not familiarized with this handset, G1 was the first device released on the market using an Android platform and it features a sliding capacitive touchscreen, a 3.2 megapixel camera and a full QWERTY keyboard.

Other specifications of this handset are its 528 MHz Qualcomm ARM processor, Bluetooth plus a memory card expansion option via microSD.

KTF, the second largest South Korean carrier will soon release the iPhone 3G. This fact was revealed by Kim Yeon-hak, KT Group’s CFO. He admitted that the famous handset is heading for Korea via KTF but he didn’t mention any release date.

The price remains a mystery as well but it’s expected to be close to the one charged in the US,  $200 or $300 with contract, depending on the device’s memory (16 or 32 GB).

We remind you some of the phone’s features:  quad band UMTS/HSDPA and GSM/EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, three-inch diagonal multi-touch display, 2 megapixels camera, audio player and others.

KTF could lose its unique iPhone seller status as SK Telecom, the country’s largest carrier is negotiating with Apple a possible deal for the iPhone.
