Sprint Will Sell Samsung AMOLED Phones

Sprint Nextel has just announced that it’ll start selling Samsung AMOLED handsets, thus offering the public phones with longer battery life and better image quality. AMOLED stands for “Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode” and it’s a technology that Samsung is adopting more and more on its devices.

Too bad that the costs of using the tech are relatively high, so the new handsets will cost quite a bunch, but the contracts and monthly fees should keep the prices in a reasonable range. Sprint’s future Samsung AMOLED phones will focus on media features on high end handsets.

These devices might reach the market as soon as Q4 2009 and to give you an example on how cool the technology is, we have to mention that Samsung Impression (available on AT&T) is the only AMOLED Samsung phone sold in the US.
