Rogers’ Affordable Samsung Hype A256 Brought on PAYG

Rogers Wireless has just released its new QWERTY candybar phone, known as Samsung Hype A256. The handset is the Canadian market version of AT&T’s Samsung Magnet, available in US since May. This device is perfectly suitable for messaging as it’s equipped with a full QWERTY keyboard.

The specs are pretty light, the device having quad-band GSM-EDGE capabilities (1900, 1800, 900, 850 MHz), MMS, a VGA camera and 16 MB of memory with the possibility of expanding it via MicroSD up to 16 GB. The handset’s weak point is the lack of 3G, but the battery capacity and the price still make it interesting.

We are talking about 5 hours of actual talk-time, plus 12,5 days of standby without a recharge. The device costs a mere $89.99 outright and it’s available only with the Pay As You Go option, online or through Rogers’ retail locations.
