O2 Germany’s Palm Pre Gets Pictured

O2 Germany is surely having a bit of the GSM Palm Pre pie, as soon as possible, specially since the smartphone is scheduled to reach Europe in a couple of weeks. Till it does, we have this leaked photo to have a look at, portraying the webOS phone in the wild.

This GSM Palm Pre was also leaked with a bunch of final box art and a localized keyboard. We remind you that Pre was announced back in February 2009 and it packs a sliding full QWERTY keyboard and a 3.1 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display with a 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

The internal memory is 8GB, while the specs list of the Palm Pre also includes a 3.15 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, HSDPA connectivity, a 3.5mm audio jack, an accelerometer and GPS.

O2 Announces HTC HD2 aka HTC Leo

O2 suggests in one of its catalogues that HTC HD2 is coming no later than October. It seems that the previous rumors about this handset being Android powered proved to be false. It appears that HTC HD2 is the same smartphone as HTC Leo, who’s OS choice is well known as Windows Mobile 6.5.

The English carrier promises that Leo will have “the largest screen yet on a mobile” and the 4.3 inch WVGA display is indeed fitting this description. We can see above that the previous rumors about this phone featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor of 1GHz and a 5 megapixel camera might be true.

As an official announcement is lacking, we have no information about the real launch date or the price.

O2 UK to Sell LG New Chocolate BL20 from Q4

O2 UK is getting ready to replace its freshly lost iPhone exclusivity with a hot fashion phone, LG New Chocolate BL20, that will seemingly hit the carrier’s offer starting Q4 2009. BL20 packs a 2.4 inch QVGA display, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera and touch sensitive navigation keys.

The fashion phone also sports touch sensitive side controls and it features Widget Hotkeys, providing quick access to news, personal updates and weather info. Clear Memo Capture is another feature of the handset, allowing the user to “capture text, handwritten notes and drawings”, most likely with the aid of a camera and probably image/text recognition technologies.

We have no information on the price of the LG New Chocolate BL20, but we know that it’ll be more affordable than LG BL40.

O2 Will Exclusively Sell Palm Pre in Ireland, UK and Germany Starting October

O2 will finally bring Palm Pre in the UK and Ireland on the 16thof October after 4 months of waiting time. There will be many outlets selling this product as it will be available on Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse, plus you’ll have the possibility to purchase it online via O2’s site.

The price list will be available soon both for Ireland and the UK versions of the phone, but we know that you will be able to get this handset for free with a 2-year agreement of £34.26 per month that features unlimited data traffic and free Wi-Fi access via BT OpenZone.

The launch date for Germany is even closer, as this device will be released in Deutschland on the 13th of October. The maximum price will be €483 outright, decreasing in direct proportion with the length and monthly fee of the contract.

O2 UK to Welcome HTC Touch HD2 (HTC Leo) On October 12th

O2 UK is getting ready to launch one of the most talked about smartphones lately, HTC Touch HD2, also known as HTC Leo or Touch Three. This info was provided by an Engadget Mobile tipster, who claims that the Windows Mobile 6.5 handset will hit O2 UK on October 12th.

Last we heard, the handset was pictured on the web and had the name Touch Three etched on its back, although word’s out that this is in fact the HTC Touch HD2 handset. Just by looking at that beautiful 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display (800 x 480 pixels) we realize that this could really be the follow-up to HTC Touch HD.

TouchFLO 3D is still on board, bringing the needed user-friendliness and as far as the O2 release is concerned, what’s lacking from this story is an XDA branding on the device, that would be normal for this carrier.

O2 Germany is getting ready to launch the GSM version of Palm Pre in Europe, Germany to be more specific. Fresh after Palm revealed its official sales, without mentioning the number of sold Pre units we find out that the first webOS device is ready to reach Germany before the holiday season.

It’ll drop this Fall, probably with a few carrier-specific services on board and a price that resembles the one of the North American version. One can only hope for a mistake like the one that made the Best Buy Pre go for $99, but right now we’re more interested in Palm Pixi, that will soon hit the US market.

O2 UK Starts Selling Samsung Galaxy i7500

O2 UK has finally made available Samsung Galaxy i7500, the handset maker’s first Android phone and the carrier’s first Android smartphone. Galaxy features an AMOLED touchscreen display with a HVGA resolution, Wi-Fi, GPS and a 5 megapixel camera.

8GB of internal memory, HSDPA and a microSD card slot make out the rest of the specs list. O2 UK sells Samsung Galaxy for about $400, but the price also depends on the carrier plan you go with.

O2 and Vodafone to Sell Nokia E52 Soon

Vodafone and O2 will soon be selling the new Nokia E-series handset E52, as we found out after the device was featured in O2’s new business magazine. Nokia E52 was released last week in Nokia’s flagship Regent Street location and it’s the ideal successor to the E51.

Expect the phone to be available in metal grey aluminium or gold aluminium and know that O2 staffers claimed that they’ll be getting the handset on stock on 7 September. Nokia E52 comes with a 2.4 inch TFT QVGA display, a numeric keypad, one-touch keys, a 3.5mm audio connector, a microSD slot (16GB cards supported) and 60MB of free user memory.

256MB NAND flash memory is also included, as well as a BP-4L 1500 mAh battery, providing 8 hours of GSM talk time and 23 days of GSM standby. FM radio, a music player, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, A2DP and ActiveSync complete the specs list of the new handset.

O2’s retail staff has recently confirmed that Samsung’s first Android phone, Galaxy i7500 is listed in the carrier’s inventory and ready to ship next week. This however is not a 100% sign that we’ll see the handset debuting next week in the operator’s stores.

Samsung’s first Android phone was a mere rumour ever since April, so we’re thrilled to finally witness its launch, if the rumours are true. We remind you that this device is all about a 528 MHz processor, a 3.2 inch capacitive OLED display, 8GB of memory and GPS.

A 5 megapixel camera is also o board, plus WiFi support and probably the latest version of the Android OS.

O2 Gets Out of Exclusivity in Selling iPhone in UK

O2 is losing the status of being the only legal iPhone seller in UK on 9th October. The source of this report is none else than Mobile Entertainment, who apparently have seen the documents proving the fact.

It seems that O2 can legally sell iPhones for 5 years, being the unique retailer for just 2 years. This can only mean one thing, that the strongly-iPhone-linked carriers Orange and T-Mobile will have the permission to sell iPhone 3G units, O2 still having the exclusivity for iPhone 3GS and hoping for future handsets’ exclusivity as well.

It’s an interesting thing that the iPhone has an unique seller in just three countries (US,UK and Germany) from a total of 80 countries in which the phone is being sold. This is why this change, applied in the UK won’t shatter the market.

We’re waiting to see the iPhone’s prices, as it readies for Orange and T-Mobile, of course, if they actually get to sell this product.
