AT&T continues its successful run, by readying the Windows Mobile 6.5 Samsung Omnia II smartphone for launch. After making HTC Pure and AT&T Tilt II available, the carrier wants to expand its WM portofolio, just as the other carriers are getting ready to launch Android phones.
Omnia II has recently received the FCC blessing, so it’ll be able to support AT&T’s 3G connectivity. This is not your average smartphone (if one can call a smartphone average), specially since it features a very appealing 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual LED flash plus GPS.
Wi-Fi is also on board, plus enough storage space to store entire discographies and gigs of documents and presentations. This is quite a decent alternative to the iPhone 3GS, if not a better phone overall, specially thanks to the fresh OS it sports.
